Mount Lushan, in Jiangxi Province, is one of the spiritual centres of Chinese civilization. It houses an impressive number of Buddhist and Taoist temples, along with landmarks of Confucianism, the White Deer Cave Academy (from 1179 AD), where the most eminent masters once taught.
